Birmingham 1 Aston Villa 1 highlights 16/1/11

This campaign has seen Alex McLeish's men having the bragging rights around Birmingham, holding them to a 0-0 draw at Villa Park and turning them over in the league cup quarter final in December beating them 2-1. Despite the blues fans joy at the results and having the upper hand over their arch rivals, the last time Birmingham defeated Villa in the league was around 6 years ago. On the back of beating Blackpool in their last league outing, the blues are craving for back to back victories, and if they can manage it, it'd be the first ones achieved since 11 months ago. Sunday's fixture is all the more important and significant as both teams are hobbling around near the foot of the table and so a win over their rivals and a confidence boost is just what both teams need.

Villa go to St Andrews raring to break out of the drop zone and with a win they would leapfrog Birmingham who are in 15th place and only one point ahead of them. Villa's premiership status has been threatened drastically lately with just one win in 9 matches and only taking 5 poins from a possible 27. Plus the defence have been very leaky, not achieving a clean sheet in any of their last 11 matches and the only team in the league who has fared worse defensively is Wolves. The match takes place at St Andrews stadium and kicks off at 12pm.
